I always like to see what Pantone chooses for their “color of the year.” As a marketer, it’s important to stay on top of fashion and other trends important to your target audience – knowing what drives your market will help you market and sell your product!
The 2015 Pantone color of the year is “Marsala.” What was the first thing I thought of when I heard that? Chicken marsala (wonderful comfort food!), marsala wine……. Pantone describes the color: “A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls.”
Whether you are developing a new brand or logo, or putting together a marketing campaign, take the time to understand the psychology of color. Color is often one of the first things a consumer remembers about a brand or logo (what color is the McDonald’s logo, for example? Everyone knows red and yellow!). According to research, 60% of the time people will decide if they are attracted to a message based on the color alone.
I have to say, I like this year’s Pantone color much more than last year’s “radiant orchid.” What about you?
